Bridal Fashion Week: The Faves and the Trends

While everyone usually obsesses over the fashion shows held in the fashion capitals of the world for ready-to-wear, I’m drooling over Bridal Fashion Week, AKA Bridal Market, a weekend of  runway shows from the top designers of the bridal industry combined with a trade show for buyers across the country. This semi-annual occasion is always held in New York around February and October for the spring and fall collections, respectively. The Knot, my favorite bridal magazine, always streams the weekend of runway shows live from their website, so if you’re as wild about wedding dresses as I am, be sure to catch the live coverage next season!

As for this Bridal Market, here are my overall favorites, in no particular order:

This Lazaro ball gown from their Spring 2014 line is to die for! I’m always a sucker for voluptuous tulle and a sweetheart neckline and the ribbon detailing at the hems of the tulle is an unique added touch.

If you love exquisite detailing and a romantic feel in your gown like I do, Monique Lhuillier is definitely your go-to girl. She never ceases to amaze me with her intricate beadwork and “Violet” from her Fall 2014 line is no exception.

The placement of lace throughout this D.I.D. gown from their Spring 2014 collection is very gentle, unique, and figure flattering. I love how the lace panels give a billowy trumpet effect to the gown!

The Spring 2014 collection from Ines Di Santo brought some gorgeous pieces to the runway, but this one took the cake for me. I usually prefer a nice strapless dress, but this mermaid dress makes wearing sleeves look fabulous!

It was so difficult for me to pick just one favorite from Amsale’s Spring 2014 collection, but I love the choice of lace she used in this one shoulder dress. It’s absolutely impeccable in true Amsale fashion!

Apart from my favorites of the season, here are the top three trends to do a mad dash for:

Bling Bling

Bridal Market Bling Dress TrendIt’s time for the bride to truly shine! Brands like Lazaro (l) and Sottero & Midgley (c) opted for a more bolder statement of the trend whereas Badgley Mischka (r) took a more subtle approach.

Mini Florals

Bridal Market Mini Floral Trend3-D mini floral detailing adds an artistic feel to a wedding gown. Marc Zunino (r) uses mini florals to add that extra pop to an already perfectly sculpted gown. I also love the fading effect Jorge Manuel (l) and Temperley (c) chose to use on these gowns. It reminds me of an ombre effect!

Short Dresses

Bridal Market Short Dress TrendDare to show some leg, brides? Well Jenny Lee, Hayley Paige, and Carolina Herrera have the spunky short dresses you’ve been dying for.
